Our Background
St. James’ Secondary School, first known as Pillalis Model Secondary School Ltd, was established by the Indian community on Church of Uganda land. It predominantly served the Indian community and the students of the eastern region of Uganda, especially Busoga.
In 1971, after the then President, Idi Amin Dada asked the Indians to leave the country, the school was taken back by the Church of Uganda, particularly Busoga Diocese and its then Bishop, Rt. Reverend Cyprian Bamwoze. It was then renamed St. James’ Secondary School and launched on 25th July 1972. We celebrate its inception every 25th of July.
It was established by the Church of Uganda to avail a decent education to the children of the region. Our students’ community is diverse and we are home to over 20 different nationalities from all over the world who reside in Jinja City and need a wholesome education.
